Bullet Heaven: The Original Tracks Dated, Features Revealed

The second anniversary for Bullet Heaven is fast approaching, and the third season is just around the corner. There are some big changes coming to Bullet Heaven, not the least of which includes true HD video recordings and an expanded field of topics including run-n-guns and rail shooters, ensuring the series will stick around into its 4th (!) season.

The biggest thing to accompany Bullet Heaven Season 3 though, is the launch of the accompanying Bullet Heaven: The Original Tracks, a 12-track album that collects the best original tunes from the show and brings them all together with new core melodies and some old-fashioned sequencing from 2006 that have never been heard outside of my Playstation! The official cover art is also finished, complete with the new logo featuring the iconic Bullet Heaven wing and a few subtle changes;

Included in this album are some great bonuses; The Art of Bullet Heaven collects all of the cool images and unique art pieces viewers saw at the end of each episode in their original resolutions. But the best is yet to come! When you purchase the album, you'll also gain access to "Episode EX" an exclusive episode of Bullet Heaven unique to the album and available nowhere else! Episode EX explore what goes into making an episode of Bullet Heaven, supply a quick rundown of the whole series up to now and some more surprises for the future of the series as well!

All for just $7.00.

Be sure to catch the biggest day in history for the world's premier all-shooter show on October 6th! Don't miss it!

New Music Project Officially Announced.

I'm working on a small mini-music project right now. Bullet Heaven needs some help to stay afloat because of financial difficulty and the need for replacement equipment. The series thus far has been a relative success, and I'd love for Bullet Heaven to continue setting the worldwide gold standard for Shoot-em-up themed content. I hope to remedy this with a new mini-album called "Bullet Heaven: The Original Tracks". Many people had asked if the music of Bullet Heaven will ever be available so now, officially, I can say "Yes!"

It's just about that time, folks. A distribution method has been found for Where the Air is Thin! The album is being primed to drop on 04/01/11. Despite this dubious date, I can assure you, this is definitely no joke! In a way, it's actually a very fitting date, as anyone who knows me personally can attest, due to my playful, humorous way of life. A perfect coincidence for my most involved project ever produced. Pricing and location are forthcoming this week... stay tuned!

"Where the Air is Thin" Finally Complete After Over a Decade In-The-Works

Where the Air is Thin, a collection of music literally eleven years in the making has finally been completed. The final song, 'Where the Air is Thin', was originally created under the title '88 Omega' in 2000 and has spent over a decade being refined and reproduced into the definitive, absolute final version which will close out the album.  The final Album cover is no surprise to many of my fans, but for those wondering, here it is!

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 1 Day

Well, this is it. I'm in the final preparation phase of going to Boston. in about 7 hours, I'll be leaving for the airport thanks to a buddy of mine (and at a cost far less than that of the taxi service).

I'm getting my equipment ready now. My clothes are currently in the dryer. Stay tuned for more as I make my way to the US from Canada for the first time. I've got lots of stuff planned for little video mini series including something I'm tentatively calling "I'm a Canadian... In America". I want to find a Tim Hortons while I'm there. Hopefully there's at least one.

Anyways, this is it; the next time you hear from me I'll likely be in Boston!

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 2 Days

So I have the Gear. I have the duds. I've accessorized and ensured everything I'll need in Boston is obtained and ready. I even have a shiny new passport and I'm just rearing to go. So what could I possibly be missing?

A drive to the airport.

Yeah, it sucks, but I don't have a single person to get me to the airport. The solution? $35.00 down the drain on a cab. That sucks harder than a hoover upright, but at least I'll be able to get that cash back on Friday when I get paid.

Anyways, I'm ready to go as we speak. The only thing left to do is to do some laundry and actually pack. Then, in just under two days, I'll be in a foreign country for the first time in my 28 years of life.

Anyone else going to be there? Look for the huge guy with the awesome hat. It'll likely be me, especially if he has Canadian flags all over his stuff.

Bullet Heaven gets an HD Logo.

Bullet Heaven will be undergoing a similar change to CHC in the coming days. The first "HD" video will be Episode 30. Here's a sneak peak at the new logo (Click for larger, higher-res size!)

The new ship in the logo is actually an in-the-works model for an upcoming production, featuring the ships from SMP's own "Scramble XI".  I've created a mockup image for how this new production could look, using photo manipulation and models.

Bullet Heaven HD is expected to arrive by the end of March.

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 4 Days

It was a bit pricier than I thought it'd be when I stepped out of Wal-Mart today, but I came out of it with a new outfit and a few other important necessities. I also stopped by The Last Game Store to grab the top off of an NES. The store has all kinds of NES units that are signed by many bg names in comics and games from all kinds of conventions, as well as local artists and peformers (Including a cool Bullet Heaven NES signed by yours truly!)

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 5 Days

Just five days to go, and I'm feeling the crunch; I still need to pick up my passport (it will be ready Monday) and there are various odds and ends that I still need for the trip, but otherwise, I think I'm set.

Today, I went to the bank to get some Amurkan monies. I was taken aback by two things;

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 6 Days

Today, I'm deliberating what equipment I need to bring to PAX. Obviously, there's the need for entertainment and production, both of which need to be balanced. I know I'll need a DS and a PSP for downloads/demos but what will I actually play? I'm thinking of bringing a Game Boy Micro, as it takes up the least amout of room with its diminutive size. With a solid RPG, it may really be all I need in the entertainment department. Well, that and my iPod Touch.

The Road to PAX East: T-Minus 7 Days

The time has finally come; in a week, you'll have the chance to meet me, The Original Ser, in person. If you happen to be at PAX East in Boston next week, you might just be able to meet with the mastermind of CHC, Bullet Heaven and WHere the Air is Thin, all of which are enjoyed around the world! I'll at one or many of the numerous projected gatherings over the course of the three days the Expo will run. Studio Mudprints is making the trip to cover the event with Press Pause Radio along-side fellow staffers and - above all else - friends Georgie Boy's AXE, Toast, Seandood and YoshiGirl1018... and I'll also be making all kinds of videos along the way in glorious High-Definition!

CHC Episode 13... Coming Soon!

I don't want to come off as a jerk. But I'm such a tease!

CHC is coming back, and the first high definition episode is in production as you read this.

CHCHD: Coming very soon!

CHC Intro, V.6

CHC is coming back in a big way!! J.O.M.G. ended up being too similar to CHC in a lot of ways, so it's going to be nixed in favor of my original gaming series.

I recently bought an HD camcorder, and as a result, it's time for SMP to go High Def with a new widescreen standard. So here it is, the sixth CHC intro!

By the way, you'll probably notice the game footage is lower-res than the filmed stuff; that's because I have not yet gotten a high-def capture device... That's next on my list! In the mean time though, most of the stuff featured will be old anyways, so there wouldn't be a difference either way!

Enjoy, and we'll be seeing you all again soon!

"Whatcha Been Playing?"

J.O.M.G! is my answer. This one's a bit different from Bullet Heaven and CHC; JU5T.0N3.M0R3.G4M3! is a personal video blog about what I'm playing and what I've gotten. No fancy features, no ratings, just what I think of what you're seeing.

Enjoy!

SMP Q&A for Bullet Heaven, 01/21/11

The Q: Recently, I've been getting a lot of requests to review a couple of games, Raptor: Call of Shadows and Crimzon Clover, both for PC. There are a couple of factors keeping me from doing this right away, but after discovering where I might be able to get these games (for a very reasonable price in the case of Crimzon Clover), I finally have an answer for those of you asking for these particular titles to be looked into in Bullet Heaven's second season.

The A: After PAX East, I'm going to obtain a copy of these games, and look into the best way to obtain direct PC video recordings. Currently, I use a USB device to grab video and audio from my game consoles for Bullet Heaven and everything else I do. With PC, frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing! However, because I've received so many requests, I'm going to make every effort to get these episodes done for my viewers! By year's end, you'll see how both (and likely even more!) of these PC shmups "stack up"!

J.O.M.G! Intro Complete! Full Vlog Coming Soon!

Who's Better? Two Artist Enter, one Artist Leave.

In the image before you, you will see two different art pieces. One is drawn by my woefully self-discouraged (and extremely talented) wife. The other is drawn by me, The Original Ser. Image #1 was made with a computer tablet, the other, drawn with a pen and coloured with markers, then scanned.

What brings this up? My wife is dead-set on the absolutely false notion that her art is so terrible that no one wants anything to do with it. I'm calling complete bullshit. I know for a fact that she possesses much more talent in the art department than I do. We both use traditional and digital methods to create our pieces, so in the interest of fairness, I'll never say whose art is whose. I did choose the piece she created that best matches what I was aiming for in my piece, so the comparison would be more equal.

So today, leave a comment saying whose piece you like more. Number one? Or Number Two?

Help Ser get to PAX East!

Money is a hard thing to come by for someone such as myself working a pitiful, meaningless, part-time job. I am going to Pax East, and I will get there. However, I still need to eat. With that said, so as not to starve myself in the mean time, I'm in the process of creating a series of auctions to raise money for my plane ticket. If you'd like some swanky art by The Original Ser, stay tuned for information on how you can buy it. Every little bit helps!

Super stylin' art like this COULD be yours!

Stay tuned for more details.

The new SMP Blog is here!

Welcome to the SMP Blog! Studio Mudprints was founded in 2007 to bring fresh, original commentary, video productions and musical pieces to the internet. Though still a small studio, SMP has taken leaps ahead to become bigger, stronger and produced even better in 2010. But 2011 is a new year, and SMP isn't nearly done expanding yet!

Though Studio Mudprints (SMP)  is the point of origin for many productions, including forthcoming video game soundtracks, only a couple will be shown here because of agreements of timed exclusivity for several sites. However, I will also provide links to my partners' sites, so that all of the SMP content you know and love will be available to you! Think of this blog as your hub town, where paths to the locations everything is found is accessible to you. So how does SMP break down, exactly? Here's where you can find the following productions!

*****

Bullet Heaven debuted in October 2009 as a dedicated Shoot-'Em-Up (also commonly known as 'shmup') type game review series and as of today has a total of twenty-seven produced episodes over its two seasons. Season 1 ended on June 24, 2010 with a total of 23 episodes. Season 2 started on October 6th, 2010 - exactly a year after its debut in 2009 - and is currently in production. Bullet Heaven also had a summer sub-series in 2010 by the name of Single Pixel Hitbox, consisting of eighteen episodes.

Bullet Heaven can be found on its new home's site, Press Pause Radio, which is based in California, starting with Season 2. You can also find Season 1 and 2 can also be viewed on Studio Mudprints' YouTube Channel.

*****

Casually Hard Core (or simply CHC for short) debuted in July 2007 as a personal video blog and has had a total of twelve core episodes produced to date. It evolved out of being a vlog and grew into a long running - if sparsely produced - video game variety show, spanning anything that might be of interest regardless of time period or console. It also has an additional seven shortened episodes known as CHC Moments and a pair of special sub-series, My Nostalgia and Gaming Type-H which had seen only one entry each.

CHC Episode 8 was featured on the front page of GameTrailers.com  for a week in 2008.

Currently, episodes 9 and 11 can be found on its new home's site, We Are Arcade, based in the UK. The series is set to continue with a more dedicated and aggressive production schedule in 2011. Many episodes are also available on Studio Mudprints' YouTube Channel.

*****

J.O.M.G! (shortened from JU5T.0N3.M0R3.G4M3!) is a forthcoming production meant to be a personal video blog with higher production values and a bit of humor. The concept behind J.O.M.G! is simply to make a video of and pickups and what I happen to be playing every two weeks or so, during that specific time.

The episodes are projected to be fairly short, and will showcase footage and video of hardware of whatever I happen to obtain and play during the time period examined.

J.O.M.G! will debut in the coming weeks, and can be found right here on the SMP Blog, as well as on Studio Mudprints' YouTube channel.

*****

SMP Music Productions is the new brand for any strictly musical production. Currently, three projects exist within SMP Music

Where the Air is Thin is the debut album from Studio Mudprints' Ser Flash. Currently sitting at six tracks, it it set to be released once the album reaches its target of ten musical selections. With several styles of  music, including rock and electronic music with a heavy chip-tune influence, Where the Air is Thin caters to multiple musical tastes, making it a fairly uncommon type of album.

It is projected that the album will be priced at $10.00 with individual tracks expected to sell for $1.50.

SMP Music is also tasked with the soundtracks of two forthcoming video games. However, due to sensitive development agreements, all that can be said is that one of the two classified projects is a 'Shmup, the other an RPG. Further updates will be forthcoming, however, so make sure to check back with the SMP Blog for further developments!

*****

SMP has new goals for 2011 as well. The first milestone will be a presence at this years PAX East in partnership with Press Pause Radio! We are currently working an many big events at this years PAX East, so stay tuned for developments as to what they are and where to check them out!

SMP is also attempting to bolster its visual fidelity and hopes to make the jump into HD Video by the end of the year. CHC, Bullet Heaven and all of SMP's future video productions will never have looked better! For now though, we're still using the same equipment we started out on. However, as with everything else we produce, SMP's quality will still be maintained at the maximum it can be!

So thank you all again for visiting the SMP Blog's premier entry! There is so much more to come, in 2011 and beyond! I hope to see you all again very soon!
